Before we start, I need to reiterate something that is often lost on North Americans - languages grow, change and evolve every day. The English we knew 50 years ago, is very different than the language we use today. That is why the dictionary occasionally puts out new editions. The Oxford Dictionary defines it as, "well informed about or proficient in the use of modern technology, especially computers." 

Someone posted anonymously in a group I’m in recently about adding a financial literacy course as a benefit to their Executive Assistant pool at work, as several have expressed that they are stretched thin financially. They were requesting ideas of how to put something in place, or ideas on what has worked in the past.

Apparently, 20 people have clicked through a blog on my website, having used this long-tail search term. Are y'all doing okay?

I'm a bit behind on this research, but a recent study done by Pew Research showed that just 14% of U.S. adults have tried ChatGPT.  Additionally, only 14%  have used it to learn something new. About one-in-ten adults who have heard of ChatGPT and are currently working for pay have used it at work. So congratulations, you're in the top 14% of Tech Savvy adults!

I'm delighted to announce that I, Jessica McBride, founder of Tech Savvy Assistant, will be joining Hilani Ellis of Exceptional Admins for an engaging discussion, set to take place on Jun 13, 2023 at 10:00 AM est. Our shared intention is to provide listeners of The Exceptional Admin podcast, with a personal and professional lens into an admin's journey. We also aim to share valuable tips to aid in career success and sprinkle in a few laughs for good measure.

I quit my corporate job in 2021. I worked at a tech company local to me, it was the height of the pandemic and I had just left my last in-office job to join this organization. I genuinely thought it was going to be where I built my career. It had other plans for me. Within 9 months of working there, you could regularly find me on my office floor in tears from the workload. My anxiety was terrible. I remember missing a meeting one day because I was having a panic attack. I let my co-worker know that I wasn't in a good space.

That’s a joke, mostly.

I came across an interesting job posting today for a “Junior Executive Assistant” position. There is an old adage by lawyers, "There are no part-time hours, only part-time pay." The implication is, that no matter how many hours you're getting paid for, the work is much more than that. I don't believe there are entry-level roles these days in the same vein, there are only jobs that expect you to be seasoned and experienced enough to handle any task they give you, but for junior-level pay.
