What to Get Your Assistant This Administrative Professionals Day

April 26th is quickly approaching, meaning it's time to do something for the person that is continuously doing things for you. I know that it can seem small, but as Administrators, we rarely get the appreciation we deserve. This Administrative Professional's Day, get your Admin a little treat.

Please enjoy this Tech Savvy Gift List for Administrative Professionals Day, April 26th, 2023.

  • A raise. Admins are notoriously undervalued. Job postings don't hesitate to list 3 paragraphs of job duties, including asking for "Executive Presence" and then post the salary at 52k for Manhattan. Why do we think that it is? Is it possible that it could be related to it being a predominantly woman industry? The world will never know.
  • A professional development budget. I wasn't able to uncover any statistics about it, but when was the last time you heard of a professional development budget for Admins being common? I was lucky enough to have the same budget as everyone else in my last role, but I negotiated it into my offer. Administrative Professionals are looked to as leaders of the office, companies need to invest in their growth. There are amazing companies specializing in training for admins, check out The Officials or EA How To for memberships that offer year-round support.
  • A technology budget. You know for $9 a month you could have a tool to help schedule heavy calendars? Or for $25 (30% off with code JESSM30) have your meeting notes transcribed and filed for you in a searchable database? In 2023, why are Admins limited to a Microsoft Office license as their only tool? Go to bat for your Admin with your Operations team and see how much more productive people can be when they're not spending their entire day chasing meeting invite responses.
  • A Tech Savvy Presentation. Blatant plug, there is still time to book a presentation for your admin teams. Email me at [email protected] or book a meeting time here.

To my fellow Admins, I encourage you to plan something nice for yourself that day. You will never regret taking the time to show yourself love. We all deserve a little treat, take care of yourself!
